The New York State Tests are a way to measure student's abilities in certain subject areas in the third through eighth grades. Third graders take the English Language Arts and the Math tests in April. They have 70 minutes to complete the test. In fourth grade, they take the ELA, the math, and science tests in April. They have 70 minutes also. The 5th graders take the ELA and the math tests in April. They have 90 minutes to complete the tests.
Our friend Danielle says that she had mixed feelings about the state test. Allison in 5th Grade said “It is boring to sit for 90 minutes and take a test!”
Tyler says, “I think the state test is a big waste of time because we have to take so many tests on just seeing how our teacher is doing! And they could try to make it not so boring! I think the state test is overrated.” Kyra and Meena say that the State Test is important but BORING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
