Nike: a history

Nike was founded on January 25th,1964. The founders of Nike are Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight. Nike was originally called Blue Ribbon Sports. Phil Knight was a track athlete at the University of Oregon and his coach was Bill Bowerman. It was then that they founded Nike.

Nike uses the famous slogan “Just Do It”, but they did not make that famous slogan on their own. It was created when Gary Gilmore was going to be executed for killing two people. When he was about to be killed, they asked for final words, and he said, “Let’s do it.” That’s where Nike got its famous slogan,”Just Do It”.


A lot of basketball players wear Nike. Even the most famous athletes wear Nike like Michael Jordan. There are lots of different styles of Nike shoes. Here are a few:
