Rube Goldberg

In fifth grade, we have a project where we have to design and create a Rube Goldberg machine. A Rube Goldberg machine is a chain reaction using different tools to do a simple task, like turning a page. Rube Goldberg machines were named after Rube Goldberg, a cartoonist known for putting outrageous machines designed to complete small tasks in his cartoons. People began to get interested in trying to build these machines. This is how Rube Goldberg machines came to be.


Rube Goldberg machines are sometimes taken very seriously. For example, Sprice went to America’s Got Talent and set up a Rube Goldberg machine in the lobby. The judges and audience enjoyed watching the contraption and he moved on to the next round. Also, there are people in the world that try to make some of the coolest Rube Goldberg machines.
